» M.A.T.V Systems (Master Antenna television)

M.A.T.V system varies in size and complexity, the basic structure of the system comprising of two main elements: 1. A robust high gain aerial fitted to receive "off air" services (ANALOG 1-5 & FREEVIEW SERVICES) 2. A head end unit comprising of levellers, filters, launch amplifier, tap units and splitter units.

Brief over view of MATV installation: A single high gain benchmarked aerial is fitted in a suitable location on heavy duty fixings and bracketry. The aerial is securely fixed to receive the required level on all analogue and digital frequencies. The signal then being carried to the main head end location, where the signal will pass through a channel filter to discard any unwanted signals or interference. The signals are then levelled before being launched through a high gain launch amplifier into an array of tap units and splitters. The splitters then send the desired amount of signal to the end user down high grade low loss coax cable to a fully screened (to avoid interference) outlet socket.

» S.M.A.T.V (Satellite master antenna television)

This enhanced version of the previously described MATV system allows the end user to combine additional selected satellite programmes with the basic terrestrial services. This is common and widely used in hotels. It can vary enormously depending on the required specification.

» I.R.S (integrated reception system)

This type is fitted in nearly every new build for apartment blocks and living areas.

Installing IRS means that the end users are free to decide whether to connect TV equipment to pick up the existing analogue signals (until they are switched off), or to take up digital satellite or digital terrestrial television, now or in the future. This solution means that the builder installing IRS does not have to favour any one particular supplier of TV programming. The choice is left to the customer.

IRS collects the broadcast signals from terrestrial (analogue & digital) and satellite transmitters, as well as FM radio and the new Digital Audio Broadcasts (DAB). All of these signals are then distributed via a twin cable to an outlet plate with four outputs, satellite 1, satellite 2 (for Sky+), terrestrial analogue, terrestrial digital, FM and DAB radio in the main rooms of the home, the cables are screened from electrical interference. An IRS system is equally suited to multiple dwelling units or single homes.

I.R.S. Tv systems can be run in communal dwellings and contain 9 Cable inputs.

This system can offer all the facilities above PLUS a second satellite signal for European or World satellites to be added, giving the tenant a very wide spectrum of viewing.
